Description
“Nearer to humanity” is a heavily layered abstract painting with the prominent colours being yellow and orange. They are challenged by green and purple for a small bit of tension – mirroring the tension in humanity. There are areas with paint drips, creating a dynamic flow from top to bottom, as well as sections of rough, textured surfaces that add depth. Fine lines and small splatters of white paint add contrast and movement to the composition. The overall effect is harmonious and evocative, inviting interpretation and exploration.
Personal note from the artist:
Most of my work is about my connection to nature and the resulting emotions. However the title of this particular piece was inspired by this Vasily Kandinsky quote, but also by my thoughts on that day of the (continuing) atrocities that are being committed in many places around the world. I’m grateful to be living where I am 🍁- safely – and feel for those who live in fear.
